Retiretainment, LLC ("we," "us," "our") operates waterdrome.com (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. By using the Service you agree to this Policy. It is part of our Terms of Service.

1. Who is responsible

2. Information we collect

Information you provide:

  • Account data: your email address and chosen handle. We verify email through a magic link or code, so we generally do not store passwords.
  • Provider and listing data: business name, contact details, website, hours, photos, and the base served.
  • Contributions: conditions, fuel prices, seasonal access, approach and departure notes, reviews, and photos. Please do not include personal information in contributions.
  • Inquiries and leads: your name, email, and message when you contact a provider through the Service.
  • Communications: messages you send us, such as support or abuse reports.

Information collected automatically:

  • Usage and log data: pages viewed, actions taken, referring pages, approximate location derived from IP, browser and device type, and timestamps.
  • IP address: processed for security, rate limiting, abuse prevention, and aggregate analytics.

Information from third parties:

  • If you sign in or connect through a third-party provider, we receive basic profile information that service shares.

We do not intentionally collect special category or sensitive personal information.

3. How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • Provide, operate, and secure the Service and your account.
  • Verify accounts and provider listings, and prevent fraud, abuse, and false reports.
  • Deliver inquiries and leads to providers and confirmations to users.
  • Send transactional messages (for example, verification, listing, and lead emails) through our email provider.
  • Process payments for paid listings through our payment processor.
  • Moderate content and enforce our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy.
  • Understand aggregate usage and improve the Service.
  • Comply with law and protect rights, safety, and property.

4. Legal bases (for EEA and UK users)

We process personal information under one or more of these bases: performance of a contract (operating your account and listings), our legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, analytics, and improving the Service), consent (where required, such as certain marketing), and compliance with legal obligations. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as follows:

  • Service providers (processors) that operate the Service under contract, including:
    • Stripe for payment processing. We do not collect or store full payment card details; Stripe handles them under its own policy.
    • Resend for sending transactional email.
    • Hetzner for hosting and storage, located in Germany (the EU).
  • Providers you contact. When you submit an inquiry, we share your name, email, and message with the relevant provider so they can respond.
  • Legal and safety. We may disclose information to comply with law, enforce our terms, or protect rights, safety, and property.
  • Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction.

6. Cookies and analytics

We do not use tracking cookies, and we do not track you across other websites. We use a privacy-respecting analytics tool that measures aggregate usage without identifying individual visitors. The only item we store in your browser is your day or night theme preference, which is not used for tracking. We honor Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals where required. If we ever introduce a non-essential cookie, we will add a consent banner first.

7. Third-party content

The Service shows or links to third-party content, including webcam imagery from Windy, weather data, map tiles, and provider and government websites. Your interaction with those services is governed by their own privacy policies, which we do not control.

8. Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, then delete or anonymize it. Account data is kept while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward. Published contributions may remain visible after account closure, with identifiers removed where practical. We retain records needed for legal, tax, security, or dispute purposes as required.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, hosted payment handling, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International transfers

We are based in the United States, and our infrastructure is located in the European Union, via Hetzner in Germany. If you access the Service from another region, your information may be processed where we or our providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers, such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

11. Your rights

EEA and UK (GDPR): you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or portability of your personal information, object to certain processing, and withdraw consent. You may also lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

California (CCPA/CPRA): you may request to know, delete, and correct your personal information, and to opt out of "sale" or "sharing." We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined. You have the right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising your rights, and you may use an authorized agent.

Other regions: you may have similar rights under your local law.

To exercise any right, contact admin@retiretainment.com. We will verify your request and respond within the time the law requires. You may exercise account-related controls directly in your account settings where available.

12. Children

The Service is not directed to children. You must be at least 18 to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will delete it.

13. Changes

We may update this Policy. We will change the date above and, for material changes, provide reasonable notice. Your continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
